Good morning, Bastrop County

Halloween is Saturday, but you already knew that, because your front porch has been bracing for it since September.

First up, it's happening today: the Boo-tique Crawl. Starting at 5pm, Silver Creek Collections, Rhinestone Rattler Boutique and Magnolia Row Boutique stay open late with a dirty soda bar, permanent jewelry and brow and lash threading. Fill your punch card at all three and you're in the drawing for a Casemate bag full of goodies. Consider it a warm-up lap before Saturday.

Then the rest of the week. Texas Wienerfest brings dachshund races and costumes to McDade. Hyperloop Plaza throws a free Fall Fest and trunk or treat Friday night. On Halloween, Smithville Brewing Company runs costume contests from 3:30 to 9, for pets, then kids, then grown-ups, so nobody in the family gets out of dressing up. Sunday, clocks fall back, which means one extra hour of sleep to recuperate from the festivities. That evening the Bastrop Museum hosts a Día de los Muertos Special Evening with pan dulce, mariachi and an Honor Walk down Main Street.

Let's dig in.

Three boutiques, one spooky shopping night. Silver Creek Collections, Rhinestone Rattler Boutique and Magnolia Row Boutique are staying open late tonight for the Boo-tique Crawl.

🥤 Grab a drink from the dirty soda bar, get a permanent jewelry piece welded on, and squeeze in some brow and lash threading while you're at it. Then shop. That's the whole point.

🎟️ Shop all 3 to enter. Get your punch card filled at all three boutiques and you're entered to win a Casemate bag filled with goodies.

Costume optional. Shopping bag strongly recommended.

🌼 Día de los Muertos Special Evening at the Bastrop Museum | Sunday, Nov 1

🗓️ Sunday, November 1 | 6-8pm | Bastrop County Museum & Visitor Center, 904 Main St, Bastrop

Join the Bastrop Museum for its Día de los Muertos Special Evening, presented by Bastrop Cultural Arts, to honor and remember loved ones during this special time of year.

☕ Enjoy complimentary fresh pan dulce, coffee and hot chocolate while listening to live mariachi music 🎺. Explore beautiful community ofrendas (offering tables) at the Museum and along the stops of the Honor/Remembrance Walk, a short walk through the heart of Downtown Bastrop along Main Street where the community comes together to celebrate the lives, memories and legacies of those who have passed.

🌼 Fresh marigolds will be available for purchase from Greenleaf Gatherings to add to your own remembrance or ofrenda.

🖼️ You are welcome to, but not required to, bring a photo of a loved one to honor during the walk. The Museum will provide complimentary craft-paper fans so you can attach your photo and carry it with you. You may also bring your own framed photo to carry along the way.

🕯️ Battery-operated tea light candles will also be available while supplies last.

⏰ IMPORTANT: The Honor/Remembrance Walk begins right at 7:00 PM.

Come walk, remember together, and celebrate the lives of those who will always remain part of our community.
